CV Joints
CV joints (Constant Velocity Joints) allow the drive shaft to transmit power through variable angles (allowing your car to turn, while still providing power to the wheels). Almost all modern cars use CV joints.
The CV joint is protected by the CV Gaiter, the rubber cone you can see in the picture, filled with grease which protects the CV Joint from wear and tear. Cracks or tears in the gaiter allow contaminants into the grease, which is the most common cause of damage to the joints.
Here at C.V. Specialists, we can help you with any and all issues pertaining to your CV Joints.
Contact us today!Book Servicing
When you buy a new vehicle, the manufacturer provides you with a warranty that covers the cost of parts failures. This warranty is voided, however, if you do not have your vehicle regularly serviced by a certified mechanic, who stamps and records these services in your vehicle’s logbook.
Here at C.V. Specialists, our team of expert mechanics are fully certified to provide logbook servicing for the following vehicles:
- Petrol vehicles
- Diesel vehicles
- LPG vehicles
- Electric/hybrid vehicles
WOF and other Vehicle Inspections
The Warrant of Fitness (WOF) inspection is a thorough check of your vehicle’s tyres, brakes, structural condition, lights, glazing, windscreen wipers, doors, seat belts, airbags, speedometer, steering and suspension, exhaust and fuel system. If you fail your WOF and your current WOF is expired, it is no longer legal to drive your vehicle except to WOF inspections and maintenance, so it’s important to keep your vehicle WOF compliant.
If you’re thinking about buying a secondhand vehicle, we would recommend you bring it in for a pre-purchase inspection. This is a thorough inspection that ensures you know exactly what you’re buying, and helps you avoid any nasty surprises.
If you’re planning a long road trip, or camping trip we would urge you to bring it in for a pre-trip inspection, for this simple reason: Would you rather find out your timing belt is worn in a mechanics workshop, where it can be replaced, or out in the middle of nowhere, when it snaps and destroys your engine?
C.V. Specialist’s expert team can provide WOF inspections, pre-trip inspections and pre-purchase inspections.
Contact us today!Brake Services
Your brakes are the most important safety feature your vehicle has. Your brakes can act to mitigate damage, and preventatively, and the condition of your brakes is often the deciding factor between an accident and an emergency stop.
Here at C.V. Specialists, our skilled technicians can help you with:
- Brake component replacement
- Brake component machining
- Brake hose repairs
- Brake restorations
Steering and Suspension Services
Faults and flaws in your vehicle’s steering and suspension affect handling and ride comfort, causing play in the steering wheel and body lean around corners, respectively. Your suspension is also responsible for maximising the grip your tyres exert on the road surface, so a poor suspension will also increase your stopping distance.
Here at C.V. Specialists, our experienced mechanics can help you with:
- Wheel alignments
- Shock absorbers, springs and struts
- Wheel balancing
- Bushing replacement
- Power steering repairs and replacement
- Lift kits and 4WD upgrades
Air Conditioning
Your air conditioning is unique in that it degrades more from disuse than from use, as the rubber tubing and seals which make up your AC, dry up and crack, allowing the refrigerant gas to leak out and rob your aircon of its cooling power.
Here at C.V. Specialists, we can fully repair your air conditioning, starting by replacing faulty condensers and compressors, then swapping out any cracked tubing, and finally recharging your system with refrigerant once we’re certain it’s airtight.
